We Neglected This ALL SUMMER!
Today we are getting the greenhouse ready for winter growing. It's been a little neglected over the summer, but it's time to get it back in shape.

****** About Living Traditions Homestead ******
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 2 new videos every week! Tuesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

Evening from NZ.. stay safe! 😉
Hello! YouTube brings us all together. Greeting from Wisconsin US – zone 5
Grant Dickson hi from The Great Lakes State of Michigan, zone 5
@Cindy Bonem Hello Cindy, we are also in Zone 5. Do you plant a garden?
You’re looking great both of you, greetings from Kenya 🇰🇪, it’s 13.36 pm here
mugisra kingsley greetings from Houston TX USA it’s 7:30 am. God bless!
Just a little chuckle. My boys used to call kohlrabi. Baby Space Ships!
It does look like it has alien origins! Quite tasty though. 😊
@Anne Brunner If you have some on hand, they make a tasty kohlrabi ice cream… who would think? But it was a pleasant surprise and a yummy alternative to store bought ice cream.
You mentioned Kohlrabi & we both burst out laughing 😂 Andrew asked me to come down to the big garden (I’m disabled don’t get down there much) because his red cabbages were growing weird.. Andrew that’s kohlrabi not red cabbages they’re over there 🤣🤣🤣🤣….
We also had our first experience with Kohlrabi this year. The purple variety seem to grow so slowly compared to the green. How do you prepare it?
Guten Yardening .. you can use it raw in a coleslaw, bake it etc.. lots of recipes online..
I tried kohlrabi for the first time this year because it was a freebie. They never grew more than two inches high. I’m not sure what went wrong, because my cabbages were the happiest plants in my whole garden.
Did not know about the need for 10 hours or more daily of sunlight. I always learn so much from you both. I have been watching your channel for close to 2 years now. How do you cook your kohlrabi? I have never tried it. Would love to know how you prepare it. Thank you.
It’s good raw with hummus or dip. Also pickled is good or in a slaw too!
Raw 👍👌
My son just built two hoop raised bed covers for me and I’m growing a fall crop of vegetables. Here in NJ we can have frost as early as November 1st. Hoping our hard work pays off and our small Honestead can enjoy a few fall veggies. Love how your greenhouse looks. Thanks for sharing. God bless. 🙏💗🌻🙏💗🌻
You are on the ball, Im not ready to plant for the fall. Need to take pictures, and tell your son he is fantastic from all of us..
Where in NJ are you?
Sarah you look so beautiful and healthy. Ever since that surgery the old Sarah has continued emerging. Obviously the hard work hasn’t slowed your progress. Love seeing it. Can’t wait to see how the fall and winter gardens produce for you. You two are so goal oriented and work well together as a team.
I thought it was just me but I was thinking that Sarah had lost a lot of weight and looking much healthier
Love watching you. Part of my Saturday morning❤️
They are both amazing!
I completely agree! She looks amazing!
Would you be able to run your grow lights in the greenhouse for a few hours per day to keep those plants growing?
Heck, I like working.
I could sit here all day watching other folks doing it
Dude. You are funny!
That was my workout for today, I need a nap 😂👍
🤣😂🤣
Yep, Work fascinates me . . . I could watch it all day.
Why not put grow lights up in greenhouse to increase growing season.
I was wondering the same thing.
Could even run them off solar.
My start to a wonderful Saturday morning with coffee, Kevin and Sarah!!!
White radishes cooked with beef and green onions is delicious!
Also with ham, potatoes and celery! I like the greens too, but my wife doesn’t.
@Stanley Pennock Radish greens are delicious! They’ve become my favorite greens. They do have a strong flavor, though, so people who like mild flavors wouldn’t like them.
Things are much better when you have two people working together
Amen to that, we all have to eat so we all need to work together
Couldn’t you put the zuccini in the green house to protect it from the frost? That way it can continue to produce.
Not without supplemental heat.
If only our Missouri weeds were a crop…we’d all be rich!
It still amazes me, that we work our butts off on our own homestead, but we very much enjoy watching you all do the same thing.😂😂😂 Love you all.❤️❤️❤️
Q: would you mind doing an experiment video of how much your greenhouse plants will grow with 9,8,7 hours versus 10 hours of sunlight? I live in zone 2/3 in Northern Canada. We don’t get a whole lot of light even in the fall… Would be curious as to what would work. Thank you 🍂🌻🦃
Monday is Thanksgiving in Canada…
Happy Thanksgiving ! We are thankful for your channel🍁🍄🌻
2 people can do in minutes what 1 can’t do in hours.
Could you just move the zucchini into the greenhouse?
“‘Lett-uce’ show you how we plant our Lettuce”😂😃😂😃
d’hiver is french for “of winter” and is pronounced, dee-VARE…and roll that r …lol
