Trump Ramps Up Battle Against Human Trafficking, Sex Slavery, Forced Labor
To increase awareness of the growing problem of human trafficking and enslavement, President Trump issued a proclamation designating January 2018 as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
“During National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, we recommit ourselves to eradicating the evil of enslavement. Human trafficking is a modern form of the oldest and most barbaric type of exploitation. It has no place in our world.
“We also pledge to do all in our power to end the horrific practice of human trafficking that plagues innocent victims around the world.”
According to the President, approximately 25 million people in the world are victims of human trafficking, that included not only forced labor, but sexual slavery as well.
“Human traffickers prey on their victims by promising a life of hope and greater opportunity, while delivering only enslavement,” Trump noted. “Instead of delivering people to better lives, traffickers unjustifiably profit from the labor and toil of their victims, who they force — through violence and intimidation — to work in brothels and factories, on farms and fishing vessels, in private homes, and in countless industries.”
The above comments are important to prepper or survivalist parents in regard to preparing our children to not be tempted to take the easy route on these types of offers in life. Almost all of them are either for the purposes of exploitation, or to convince people there’s an easy way to fame or fortune.
Either way, the chance to lose our money or freedom is the usual outcome, and in some cases, our lives.
This is one of the reasons my focus on prepping and survival goes far beyond the catastrophic scenarios so many in the industry adhere to. We must take into account the very real risks associated with those that want to exploit our family or friends with promises that could never be fulfilled, or in most cases, never were intended to be.
