The Right to Bear Arms is a Divine Right

fight for your families, homes, sons and daughtersArticle 166 was the first step in Ottoman Turkey to initiate gun control laws in 1866. More laws were passed in 1911 and 1915. In the beginning permits were required, followed by the government making a list of all those that owned guns. Last came a full ban on guns. The outcome? Up to as many as 1.5 million Armenians were killed, with the majority being Christians.

Never give up your guns because we have the divine right to protect ourselves.

In a book called ‘The Frontiersman‘ (primarily about the life and times of Simon Kenton  – a contemporary of Andrew Jackson), it talks about two Indian tribes that had been fully Christianized. The foolish people that helped bring them to Christ instructed them to disarm. When the surrounding tribes learned about it, that attacked and totally genocided the Christian tribes. When thinking of the potential witness those two tribes could have been to other Indians, it’s a tragedy that they were told to disarm, which took away the potential they had to Christianize other tribes.

A couple of Biblical passages confirming the right to bear arms.

1 Samuel 13:17-22 – This talks about the Philistines, the enemies of God’s people, not allowing there to be blacksmiths in Israel so they couldn’t produce weapons. When the Philistines came down to attack Israel, they had no weapons to fight with.

The obvious implication is God’s people, including New Testament saints, are morally required to be armed and able to defend themselves against their enemies, including if it is tyrannical government that has arisen.

When resistance to rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem came in the time of Nehemiah, he says this in Nehemiah 4:13,14:

13 Therefore I stationed some of the people behind the lowest points of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by families, with their swords, spears and bows. 14 After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”

We are to remember our God is great while being ready to take up arms and protect our families and homes if our enemies come against us. The Bible, the very Word of God, can’t be any clearer on the subject than this.
