Significance of the first four words of the Bible: “In the beginning God…”
A look at Christianity and how it was the foundation of Western Civilization and its success.
Understanding the significance of the first four words of the Bible: “In the beginning God…”
Before creation, there was nothing but God, nothing was outside of God, and nothing existed that wasn’t God.
What that means is once creation was launched and completed, it was fully based upon who God was and what He thought.
When God commanded Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply, before sin, it meant His image bearers were to spread His image across the face of the earth.
That purpose for mankind on the earth was an eternal one. We are to be conformed to His image, and that image was, and still is, meant to fill the earth, glorifying God.
That’s accomplished by taking on the character of God, walking in obedience to His commands, and having dominion over the earth. It’s perpetuated by teaching our children and grandchildren to walk in the same way.
It’s spread through the world by evangelism.
Part of the Great Commission was to teach the nations to obey all things Jesus commanded His disciples to obey.
There are a lot of details associated with this, but the framework is simple: God created the heavens and the earth in order to be reflected and represented in them. On earth, the human race was the chosen vehicle to make it happen. It still is, although there are now two streams of the human race vying for dominance and control of the earth and its resources.
Christians are destined to, and will win.
