About OFF GRID with DOUG and STACY:
We moved to our 11 acres in 2011 from a large city in the Midwest with zero carpentry and farming skills. We live with no solar / wind power / public water or well. We share our adventure to a sustainable life, growing our own food from vegetables to meat. We post videos DAILY and they range from HOW TO to EVERYDAY LIFE and NUTRITION on the off grid homestead. We were city folks just like you probably and wanted to enjoy life and have more control over our food. We share food recipes as well as natural remedies.

You published saving heirloom tomatoes with seeds in a pot of dirt and put in a dark place in the basement/ root cellar on July 12, 2015

I am from Australia and I love watching your channel and getting all your tips for the garden and it has helped me so much…. I am learning all the time… Thank you….. I also love listening to all your animals in the background and watching them running around… so funny

  • Diana Dowdy

Oh my goodness. I had that problem with the tomatoes too! That explains a lot. Thank you for that.

  • Patty Meade-Austin

Hello, Homestead Homies! Stacey, would you do a video on sun drying vegetables?

  • Spirit Calling

Yall are an inspiration. Lord Jesus’s blessings. Be well.

Moved to Idaho 3 days ago, many different sizes of canning jars in our stores. Huge farming community here

Growing squash, beans, tomatoes, peppers and herbs in a townhouse garden.

My husband and I were smart this year….. we stocked up on everything we need to live, grow food and save our food!

Biggest garden tip is to: Have one.

  • Sammy Elliott

My question is: How do you keep up with everything when your garden starts to ripen at about the same time? Root cellar? What is the status?

  • Terri Lynn

I like to hear more about Stacy’s daily regimen because she so youthful and beautiful 🙋‍♀️🤗

@doug robertson that’s a very strange, mean, and inaccurate thing to say.
I’ve watched almost all their videos and they do this out of the goodness of their own hearts.
      You don’t deserve their knowledge.

    • Victoria O'Shea

      She eats very healthy

Excellent video content! Forgive me for butting in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you ever tried – Penmma Esteemed Prepotence (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a good exclusive product for removing your hives for good minus the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my work colleague after a lifetime of fighting got astronomical success with it.

I’m in southern Illinois and my Chicago fig has been planted outside, in the ground, for 4 years now. I never bring it in but it’s growing by a rock wall. Has so many delicious figs every year.

Hi Stacy and Doug. I’ve been following you for ive a couple years. I’m just a 57 yr old disabled woman with. Backyard garden. I do what I can. I’ve learned a lot from you and roots and refuge. Thank you for being out there.

STACY: YOU FERMENTED PURSLANE??????????????? I really need those omega 3’s—basically the same, with the salt? Spoke to you at the conf re this. I will try….

  • Kansas Traveler

So Doug, that purple finger nail on your left hand must have a tale to tell! Also, as your Kansan neighbor, we pronounce your state Misery. 😁
    Love your channel Homie!!

  • Deborah Tofflemire

Thank you. I would like to see more about seed saving tomatoes.

  • Lou Farbus

Hello from Plymouth in England where the pilgrims left to set up homesteads in America in 1620. I really enjoy your videos, thank you.

  • Charity Tanel

Hi Stacy, I’d like to know how you get organized (ok you may think this is a bit off topic), but for eg. I know I have, ferments, kombucha, dehydrating projects, garden wk, egg collecting, seed saving; & especially in the busy time, sometimes we all have a first & last, but it makes for a long busy day. How do you list or plan all or is it’s just the sunrises/sets. I will do what I can, I know sometimes projects go longer are dependent on weather or materials on hand or not. Any tips, or ideas, thanks 💜 Chari 🍒

I know you need to have energy to run it but have you heard of freeze drying your food? It has way more nutrition then sun dried food plus to me tastes better. Plus if stored right will last up to 25 years. I have been contemplating spending the money on one. Thanks for the videos homestead homies
